Today is my husband's 40th birthday! To celebrate, we went to his hometown this last weekend to visit his family and catch a soccer game.
Happy 40th birthday, my love. Here's to many more.

It's no secret that I love Halloween. I also love horror movies. It has always been one of my favorite genres. Halloween themed movies are also some of my favorites. Today I am going to share some of my favorite movies to watch around Halloween time. I typically watch these every October, but let's be honest - I will watch them all throughout the year, too.

  • Halloween series (except Halloween III, which has nothing to do with Michael Myers) - this includes the two newest ones as well. Halloween Kills just came out October 15th, and honestly might be one of my favorite Halloween movies.
  • Scream series - I think I have already watched through these 4 or 5 times since September. No shame here. I love these movies. I heard they are making a fifth one and I really hope they do. I watched an episode of the TV show and wasn't a big fan, but would like to give it another shot.
  • Freddy vs. Jason - I picked this one specifically because it brings together two amazing horror franchises into one movie and makes it that much better.
  • Hocus Pocus - do I really need to say more?!
  • Practical Magic - the movie is sooo good, the books not so much.
  • Fear Street series - these are Netflix originals and so good.
  • Casper - always thought this movie was super cute and fun to watch.
  • Nightmare Before Christmas - one of my all time favorite movies. I like to watch around Halloween and Christmas.
  • Child's Play series - Chucky is creepy so these are perfect Halloween movies. Most of the movies in the series are good, a few are just weird, but overall good series. There is a TV show now, too. First episode was great. The TV show is actually a continuation of the movies, so old characters may pop up. I like that they did it that way.
  • Addams Family - these movies are fun to watch. The new animated ones are cute, too!

What are your favorite movies to watch for Halloween?

Do you ever have a weekend with zero plans? And, you do basically nothing? No appointments. No events. My husband and I haven't had the opportunity to do nothing (or whatever we want) for quite some time. We moved in July, so prior to that we were busy packing and after that busy unpacking. Along with family events, work stuff, and fixing/updating a few things at the new house - we haven't had time to just be for quite a few months. Until this past weekend.

Saturday was Piper's birthday. We honestly stayed on the couch with the dogs + blankets most of the day. We left once to get pizza and once to get frozen yogurt. The frozen yogurt trip was a little adventure for Miss Piper. We brought her along since it was her birthday, and she enjoyed just hanging her head out the window and having the breeze in her fur.

Sunday the only thing we had to accomplish was mowing the lawn, which was finished before 11am. That left the entire rest of the day for anything. I spent it reading and snuggling with the dogs. We had horror movies playing in the background and just relaxed all day. It was a much needed weekend to just recharge.

How was your weekend?

SummaryLynnette Tarkington is a real-life final girl who survived a massacre. For more than a decade, she’s been meeting with five other final girls and their therapist in a support group for those who survived the unthinkable, working to put their lives back together. Then one woman misses a meeting, and their worst fears are realized—someone knows about the group and is determined to rip their lives apart again, piece by piece.

But the thing about final girls is that no matter how bad the odds, how dark the night, how sharp the knife, they will never, ever give up.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Review: I absolutely loved this book. I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this book was probably one of th3e best I have read this year.

I am huge horror movie fan, so as soon as I read what this book was about, I knew I had to read it. And, it did not disappoint at all. I had a pretty good guess who the killer was before they were revealed, and usually that bothers me, but it didn't in this book because it was like all my horror movie faves came together as one.

I loved all the final girls, even the annoying ones that I would normally hate, because this was so much like an 80's or 90s horror film, it didn't even matter. There always has to be that one annoying person in the group. I really liked that each final girl was from a real move, although names were changed in the book for obvious reasons. But, I could easily pick which one went with what real horror film.

I heard this is going to be a TV series. I honestly hope that's true. If you love horror films, especially the slasher flicks from the 70's-early 90's, definitely give this book a shot.
